Lets Discuss American Foreign Relations
America has several committee's it's even a committee to be in a committee at this point. It is without a doubt a new thing to do, to address the rising problems across the globe. Nathan Dane is a representative from Massachusetts who played a major role in shaping American Foreign relations during the articles of confederation.
“The said states hereby severally enter into a firm league of friendship with each other, for their common defense, the security of their liberties, and their mutual and general welfare…” I have come to realization after taking a few classes like international Diplomacy, Intro to International Relations and Intro to Comparative Politics that defense alliances just cause more problems in the long run because regardless each country is always going to think of the greater good of their own country resulting in some form of a hidden agenda. For example, If you do something for me i'm now obligated to do something for you so we'll never be even. The articles of confederation was the original drafted constitution of the United States that was later ratified in 1781. To keep it short and simple the articles didn't have a executive official or judicial branch. These are just the few problems that arose with the articles that led to the revision and renaming which alter produced the Constitution one the most sacred documents in the United States.
We've seen this before, well maybe not this generation but America has seen this before so that brings me to the question of why can't the constitution be revised we have more than enough knowledge and power. So, what's the hold up now?
America tends to capitalize the most from it's History of being the first to Mature and this has been severally detrimental the growth of other countries because success has turned into a race for power instead of thinking of the people in the country it's more about what can give the country more power.
Certainly, Dane's involvement in the writing of foreign treaties and apportioning foreign debt, which contributed to the country's maturity in relation to other countries was a great move because it helped ground the basis of the articles of confederation which acted as the first foreign relations and policies for future leaders. Dane's influence was a great help which discussed trade with different nations but as time went on this would soon take a wrong turn.
The constitution superseded the articles of confederation in 1789. Dane's views were helpful and way before its time but as the world progresses so should the documents we honor the most. It's been 239 years since we re-vist the very document we honor the most. Regular Trade is something that is benefiting America but at times like this where we have multiple wars going on it makes you think about if certain things could have been prevented. If America is over exerting itself into foreign affairs.
These are topics that clearly need to be revisited. Congress has a job to do and apart of that job is accessing what goes in the world. How the world has evolved plays a major role in why these historical documents were revised in the first place. Dane was a great expert during his time but it's time for the new generation to take over and give some insight to what can help produce a better United front in the American Government because in recent events we have been painted as weak and organized.
